A drop-in button that pays people to fundraise for your nonprofit

To set up Benefact Link for your nonprofit, please contact richard@benefact.co.

Peer-to-peer fundraising (P2P) accounts for roughly one-third of all online donations for nonprofits. Conducting a P2P fundraiser is hard though. A nonprofit has to find fundraisers, motivate them, and hope that they’re able to raise some money. This is usually time-consuming, unviable, and, most importantly, unscalable for small-to-medium nonprofits.

Benefact Link is a solution for nonprofits to attract P2P fundraisers straight from their websites. No more running around trying to find the right fundraisers or managing them throughout the fundraising process. Benefact Link is a drop-in button that anyone can click to become a fundraiser.

So…why would anyone click on this button to become a fundraiser? Because Benefact Link pays people to fundraise! By doing so, Benefact Link gives a clear incentive to fundraisers and rewards them for their time and effort. In the status quo, the only incentive people have is their care and concern for the nonprofit’s mission. While this is great, goodwill alone will not optimally scale P2P fundraising. Through the Link, internal nonprofit workers, such as the Executive Director or fundraising manager, don’t have to manage the P2P fundraisers at all. Benefact takes care of fundraiser management, quality control, and end-of-fundraiser payouts. This means that the nonprofit can focus on their mission while Benefact manages the entire fundraising process.

How can your nonprofit be confident that something like this would work? Well, it already has! Dozens of nonprofits have a “Fundraise for us” button on their website that allows everyday individuals to run their own fundraiser. One of the most successful is Charity:Water, which raises millions of dollars from their online P2P campaigns. There’s a pretty simple reason that people fundraise for nonprofits in the status quo. Maybe they have a birthday coming up where they can ask for donations instead of gifts. Maybe they care a lot about the nonprofit and know friends who would also donate. Or maybe they would do a wacky dare —like shaving their head— if they reach $10,000 in donations. And yes, these are all are real examples of P2P fundraisers that people have done for Charity:Water.

Oh and the kicker? Charity:Water doesn’t even incentivize people by paying them! That’s right —people are fundraising for Charity:Water completely out of their goodwill and care for their mission. Think about that for a second. Charity:Water raises millions of dollars from fundraisers (that they don’t even know) simply because they give people the ability to conduct their own fundraiser for a great cause. So just imagine — how motivated would those people be, and how many more people would conduct those fundraisers, if they actually got paid to fundraise? With Benefact Link, you don’t have to imagine.

So how difficult is it to integrate Benefact Link into your nonprofit’s website? Well, you can literally drop it into your website in about 5 minutes, and it can exist as a floating bubble, a button, or a link/button on your navbar (see examples below).

The Link can exist on your nonprofit’s website as a floating bubble, a button, or a link/button on your navbar.

When you click on the Link, it slides up a pane that tells you everything you need to know about the entire fundraising process.
